Workplace Noise and Assessment

If you are responsible for public buildings or workplaces you need to be concerned about how noise might affect those working in the building and people outside.

Workplace

If there is a danger that noise levels at work might impact on your employees’ hearing, you need to act.  We undertake noise assessments which meet the requirements of the regulations and can advise on noise reduction, protective measures and record keeping.

To determine whether you may have a problem, the regulations refer to an exposure limit of 87dB. Details of the types of noise and length of exposure that need to be addressed will be found on the HSE website.

Environmental noise

The Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires local authorities to deal with ‘statutory nuisances’ by serving abatement notices. We can undertake an Environmental Noise Survey to forestall or rebut potential complaints.  Noise readings taken at the boundary are assessed in accordance with BS 4142:1990
