Legionella covers a range of naturally occurring water-borne bacteria that can multiply in man-made water systems and, when inhaled as aerosols, cause illnesses.  One of these illnesses is Legionnaire’s disease, fatal in 13% of cases.

Owners and managers of commercial, industrial, educational and healthcare premises are required to prevent and control the risk of Legionella, as far as reasonably practicable.
